Sameer Arya (Tushar Kapoor), Martand Damdere, Pankaj Tiwari (Sharman Joshi), and Gautam Sesodia (Kunal Khemu)  are friends who live in a small town in India. Broke, accident-prone, and unable to pay rent to their landlady, they are basically slackers with Sameer and Gautam having no family, while Pankaj has been kicked out by his brother-in-law, and Martand has illicitly borrowed money from his maternal uncle, is unable to re-pay it and hence rendered homeless.

The four find out that they can better their lifestyle by obtaining a bank loan - albeit in vain as they are unable to secure one. Then they decide to woo a rich girl, let one of them marry her, and live their life in comfort. They find out that there is a new girl, Ritu Tripathi (Tanushree Dutta), in the neighborhood, who is on the lookout for her missing brother, Rahul. The foursome con her into believing that they are Rahul's friends and befriend her.

Pankaj even re-names himself Jai, her fiancée, not for long though as she soon finds out that the truth after she meets with Sophie, the woman her brother was supposed to marry, and decides to complain to the Police. Before the Police could arrest the hapless foursome, they are abducted by a gangster named Zikomo, who wants them to return his, of all things, drum (dhol). Watch how the foursome attempt to hilariously wiggle out of this tough spot even as the Police, Martand's uncle and other goons close in on them.

Mumbai, June 30th 2008: Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa after having taken the competition across the national borders in the last season, this year takes the challenge to yet another level with the launch of Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 from July 4th, Fridays and Saturdays at 10 pm. 32 contestants from all over the world have marched on to the manch of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 to participate in the musical war. The expectations are high and this series promises a more intense and grueling fight for the coveted title.

Speaking on the launch, Mr. Tarun Mehra, Business Head, Zee TV said that, “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has set a benchmark over the number of years, a benchmark that is synonymous with the best in music. The contestants who participate are considered absolutely ready to take up singing as their career once they leave the competition. Even people from the music fraternity have acknowledged that the talent and quality here is unmatched.”

Adding further he said, “this year too we have contestants from all over the world making it in every sense a real VISWA- YUDH. Contestants from Pakistan, UK, Australia, Middle East apart from India of course will battle it out and the audience will surely be mesmerized.”

The maha-yodha’s in this season’s vishwa-yudh are Adesh Srivastava representing Jai Gharana, Dhoom Gharan’s Pritam Chakraborty, Shankar Mahadevan from Lakshay Gharana and not to miss out on the now cap less Himesh Reshammiya who retains the mentorship of Rock Gharana.

Ever popular host cum friend of the participants is back on stage to take charge of this season as well – Aditya Narayan.

Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 is a musical reality show that extends beyond just the participants. It is a contest between four musical maestros! 32 contestants selected from across 5 regions and 25 countries, will compete with each other under the guidance of the four mentors. Saath Saath is the story where East meets West. Lajwanti, a village girl from Punjab and Leeza, a foreigner get married in Singh family after turmoil of emotions, sacrifices and drama. Ranbir Singh in order to keep his words given to his friend announces that he will marry his foreign returned son Abhay to Lajwanti, his friend’s daughter. But to his dismay Abhay returns back from abroad with his girl friend Leeza.

Now to keep uncle Ranbir’s words and to get the whole family together Uday (Ranbir’s nephew) marries Lajwanti against his mother Rekha’s wish. Now both the girls from different cultures and backgrounds come together under one roof trying to make their place in the family.
