Shobhna

Shobhna, the princess of Bharuch, is a good natured and highly intelligent girl. Bereft of parental love since child, Shobhna shares a unique and special bond with her uncle Dadda Chalukya and aunt Gayatri Devi.   Shobhna uses her wit and intelligence to solve her problems. Destiny forces Shobhna to counter the marauding armies of Mahmood Ghaznavi and evict them from her motherland. Her faith in Lord Somanth is unflinching. Friends since childhood, Shobhna falls in love with Bheemdev. However, destiny plans otherwise.

Gayatri Devi

Dadda Chalukya's wife and the queen consort, Gayatri Devi mirrors her husband's concern for her subjects. Gayatri loves her niece Shobhna dearly and showers maternal affection on the child.

Mesmerized by Chaula's beauty, Prachandman does not pay attention to the message which a solider gives him. The soldier tries to inform Prachandman that Shobha was seen heading towards Devpatan with a soldier from that region.

Prachandman slaps the soldier and orders him to send forces in the direction where Shobha was seen.

When the soldier's horse refuses to move, Shobha examines him and realizes that the animal was thirsty. The soldier gets surprised to see that Shobha knew a lot about horses inspite of being a simple village girl. The soldier decides to get water for his horse.

Shobha quickly hides when she notices Bhanuman's soldiers. The moment Bhanuman's soldiers start attack a poor villager, an angered Shobha confronts them. She bravely saves the villager as well as defends herself. The soldier, watches the entire scenario from a distance, and gets surprised to see Shobha's bravery.

Shobha gets apprehensive as she believes that Bhanuman must have learnt about her and decides to reach Devpatan as soon as possible.

The soldier tries to enquire with Shobha her reason of visiting Devpatan, however Shobha does not tell him.

Shobha and the soldier go separate ways once they reach Devpatan.

On reaching the palace of Devpatan, a woman informs Shobha that Bheemdev was busy in meeting people from the palace. Shobha gets elated when the lady informs him that Vallabhdev was holding Bheemdev's coronation ceremony in a short while.

The story takes an interesting turn when it is revealed that the soldier with whom Shobha traveled to Devpatan was none other than prince Bheemdev. When Shobha comes to meet the prince he gets shocked to see the necklace which the Gangsarvagya had given princess Shobha in the neck of a village girl.

Shobha gets shocked when Bheemdev orders his soldiers to imprison her. In order to hide her identity in Bharuch, Shobha has assumed the name Soma. Bheemdev believes that Soma had tricked him on several occasions. He adds that Soma and his aides had also stolen the boxes of gold from Bharuch soldiers.

Shobha tries to clear Bheemdev's misunderstanding by trying to remind him about their childhood memories however Bheemdev refuses to listen. He states that he will ask Vallabhdev to punish Shobha after his coronation ceremony.

Back in Bharuch, a soldier lands up at Gayatri Devi's tent. He asks Gayatri Devi if there was a girl of 18-19 years of age staying in her family. Puru quickly hides Chaula before the soldier could notice her.

Hansa Ben notices the soldier outside Gayatri Devi's tent and rages at him for questioning the servants living in the village. The soldier explains that Indumati wanted to gift some village girls and hence has asked them to assemble in the village. Hansa Ben tells the soldier that she would do the needful.

Vallabhdev gets elated when his courtier informs him that Bheemdev had imprisoned a bandit named Soma, whom Bhanuman was looking for. He praises Bheemdev.

Vallabhdev tells Bheemdev that they could not announce a punishment for Soma as she belonged to Bharuch. Unaware of the happenings of the past 16 years, Bheemdev states that Dadda Chalukya would announce Soma's punishment. Vijaylaxmi and Vallabhdev keep mum.

Prachandman orders Anairaj to nab Shobha's relative. Prachandman believes that Shobha would definitely come to save her loved one.  He states that no one must learn about their plan. Prachandman believes that Bhanuman, who was in Devpatan, would get elated when he finds out that he has plotted to imprison Shobha.

Bhanuman informs Vallabhdev regarding the Somsena, who had stolen the boxes of gold which were required to be handed over to Mahmud Ghaznavi. Vallabhdev informs Bhanuman that he had managed to imprison the leader of Somsena.

Shobha recalls Bhanuman's past deeds when he comes inside the dark chamber.

In the previous episode, Shobha and her aides tied the prince to a tree.

Before Shobha and her aides could leave, the prince states that she would have to face trouble in the future as he belonged to the powerful army of Devpatan. Shobha asserts that there was only one brave and powerful person in Devpatan and that the rest were all traitors. Without mentioning the name, Shobha's context is her childhood friend Bheemdev.

Before she could leave, the prince states that if Shobha was not a traitor, she would have to come and introduce herself. The prince is left apprehensive wondering why the bandit had addressed the subjects of Devpatan as traitors.

Hansa Ben informs the servants living in the village that Bhanuman believed that the members of Somsena belonged from her village. She asserts that if it was the truth, she would not only get the girls but also their families arrested by the Bharuch soldiers. Gayatri Devi gets apprehensive about Shobha.

The moment Shobha arrives with a carriage in the village, Hansa Ben enquires with her. Shobha states that she had gone to purchases chilies.

Gayatri Devi rages at Shobha and asks her to be more vigilant as they had been hiding their identity for the past 16 years. She adds that none knew that some of the Chalukya family members were alive. She fears that Bhanuman may learn about them if Shobha continues to carry out her missions.

Gayatri Devi tells Shobha that Puru had promised her that he would not do anything that would make the Chalukya family fall in trouble. Shobha too promises Gayatri Devi that she would see to it that no one ever came to know of their true identity. Shobha asserts that she had to free the people of Bharuch from their cruel king Bhanuman.
 
Inspite of brutally beating up Bhanuman's soldier Dhayanchand, he refuses to reveal to Puru where the soldiers were headed with the boxes of gold. Shobha assures Puru that she would conduct the inquiry.

Shobha tells Dhayanchand that they did not intend to kill him but release him so that he could meet his wife and son who were waiting for him at Bharuch boundary. Dhayanchand believes Shobha and reveals to her that the boxes of gold were supposed to be transported to Peshawar, where Mahmud Ghaznavi was.

He adds that Mahmud Ghaznavi was soon supposed to meet Bhanuman to take further his plan of capturing the country. Shobha gets shocked hearing his words.

At Peshawar's court, Mahmud Ghaznavi was sitting on one side of the weighing scale as he wants the Peshwar king to fill gold which was equal to his weight. Since the proportion of gold was less in quantity, the scale was losing its equilibrium.  To maintain the balance, Mahmud Ghaznavi orders the king of Peshawar to remove his necklace. The Sultan gets irritated when the king refuses to remove his necklace.

In the previous episode, Mahmud Ghaznavi got angry when the king of Peshawar refused to remove his necklace.

In anger, the Sultan kills the king. The scale is balanced when Jalaluddin keeps the king's necklace on one side of the weighing scale. Baba Hazrat informs Mahmud Ghaznavi about the boxes of gold which were stolen from the soldiers of Bharuch.  

Mahmud Ghaznavi decides to leave for Bharuch and from there execute his plan of invading the rest of the country.

As per Prachandman's orders, Anairaj asks the soldiers to enquire with the goldsmiths of Bharuch about the earring they had found. Prachandman believes that he would be able to find clues about the Somsena with the help of the earring.

Meanwhile, Chaula realizes that she had lost her earring. The earring belonged to Gayatri Devi and Chaula had not asked permission from her before wearing them.

The soldiers enquire with the goldsmith regarding the earring.

Shobha's friend informs her about Bheemdev who was returning from his martial training after 16 years. Shobha tells her friend that she had to leave for Devpatan as she believed that Bheemdev was the only one who would help them to fight against Mahmud Ghaznavi.

Chaula informs Shobha that she had lost Gayatri Devi's earring. Shobha tells Chaula that she will handle the situation. Shobha goes to Himmat, the goldsmith, and asks him to design a similar pair of the earrings. Himmat tries to inform Shobha regarding Anairaj orders, but fails.

Meanwhile, the soldiers of Bharuch manage to learn from Himmat that the earring belonged to girl named Soma, the name that Shobha has assumed. Bhanuman and Prachandman believe that Soma was leading the Somsena.

Shobha meets the prince, whom she had tied to a tree. She hides her real identity from the prince and asks him if he could take her along with him to Devpatan. Shobha learns that the prince was waiting for some bandits.

Prachandman sees Chaula in the jungle and gets mesmerized by her beauty. Chaula gets apprehensive when Prachandman tries to flirt with her. Chaula quickly leaves from the jungle.

Shobha Somnath Ki is a historical drama that narrates the story of India's unsung heroine Shobha who stood tall and strong in the face of a fiery invasion by Mahmud Ghaznavi.
