When Shaan came on the sets of Hero Honda SaReGaMaPa L'il Champs as the special judge, Alka Yagnik narrated an incident. When she was about 15 years old, West Bengal's great musician, Manas Mukherjee, had offered her playback singing for a song. While she was practicing at his place, she saw a kid peeping at her from behind the curtains. When she asked Manas who he is, he said, “That's my son, Shantanu.â€
A couple of years later, when Alka got an opportunity to record a song with Shantanu (now fondly called Shaan), she was amazed with his talent.
Summing up Alkaji's narration, Abhijeetda indicated that the entire credit for Shaan and his sister Sagarika's success goes to their mother who brought them up so well after Shaan's father passed away at an early age.
Listening to this, an emotional Shaan confessed that though we always respect our parents somewhere as we grow up, we tend to forget their sacrifices, generosity and love towards us. He added that he is extremely thankful to Alkaji and Abhijitda for reminding him of how great his parents have been.
